Cornwall Scout Fellowship Safety Team

CSFST
This Fellowship was initially suggested as long ago as Kernow 97, and the idea was resurrected again during the Cornwall Centenary Camp in May 2007, but was again reaffirmed upon completion of the Sunrise Ceremony on 1st August 2007, and the fellowship was born - on the day that scouting was.

Why 'Safety' Team and not 'Security' Team. Well the term 'Safety' covers several aspects including Marshalling, Stewarding and First Aid, whereas the team Security only covers a small aspect of what the team is designed to do.

Our Scarf: Why Purple with an Orange Border ? Well Purple is the Nationally recongnised Scout Polo Shirt Colour, and the NSFST wear Purple Polos with their logo on, and Orange is the colour of the Hi Visability (Hi-Vis) Jacket we wear.

To join the 'Cornwall Scout Fellowship Safety Team'

The downloadable Application form should be completed and forwarded to:
Kelly Johnson, 1 Rose Cottage, Rame Cross, Penryn, TR10 9ED
With the form you should include a cheque for £10.00 as a joining fee (Cheques made payable to 'Cornwall Scout Fellowship Safety Team') This will cover the purchase of a scarf, a nametape an ID Card and also an intial years membership; thereafter an additional fee of £5.00 will be required. Please also include two passport sized colour photographs of yourself, one for inclusion on the ID Badge and one for retaining with the application records. A copy of your current CRB should also be attached. Full members will be 18+, Trainee members by negotiation.
The scarf, ID Card and the nametapes etc make up about 50% of the joining fee; but it might be that in the future we can use some of the residue money to provide HV Jackets or T-Shirts.

NSFST
We fully support the 'National Scout Fellowship Security Team', and aim to get the majority of our members interested in Security to also join and be members of the NSFST in order that we can work to the same aims and in harmony for the benefit of all. The NSFST is an established National Scout Fellowship, providing Security & Marshalling services to Scout events and activities throughout the United Kingdom.

ScoutMed
We fully support 'ScoutMed', and aim to get the majority of our members interested in First Aid to also join and be members of the ScoutMed in order that we can work to the same aims and in harmony for the benefit of all. ScoutMed is an established National Scout Fellowship, providing first aid and medical services to Scout events and activities throughout the United Kingdom.

ABOUT US
We wear Uniform to most events and occasions, but also wear our own 'informal' uniform akin to the NSFST dress code of Purple Polo-Shirt, Orange Hi-Visability Jacket and our own Purple and Orange scarf. Nearly all members are from the Scouting, but some are from Guiding, Cadets or Duke of Edinburgh's Award background; all are CRB checked.

WHERE WE CAN ASSIST
We are available to attend District and County events, where a Safety, Security, Marshalling or First Aid presence is required. From Camps to one day events, we can provide a team of dedicated staff to aide and assist with the running of your event.
For further enquiries or to make a booking request then please complete the booking request form and email it to the CSFST secretary at kelly_johnson_83@hotmail.com

NEWS

The CSFST held there first AGM on the 3rd which was a great success with 20 members attending and the election of the new committee

TENTAGE

On Thursday 13th March, the CSFST were kindly donated a 'pile' of tentage from Newquay Tretherras School. These tents when sorted out, revealed 28 tents in all; consisting of Vango Force Ten, Vango Hurricane and Ultimate Experience Tents. 18 of these tents are immediatly serviceable, and a further 7 can be with a little bit of work; given us 25 Hike Tents.

A few weeks prior to this on 17th February, the CSFST were donated 'on loan' a Mess Tent from Newquay Treviglas School. This tent was supplied without poles, and the team have since made a set of poles for the tent, making it a serviceable unit for events.

We are grateful to both schools for this help and assistance.
