The District Centenary 2007 Event; Kernowpoly on 29th September at Mount Edgcumbe Country Park. Following on from St.Georges Day was another great chance to explore the Park, and the weather made it a fabulous day out, with 40 teams taking part in the event.

On St.Georges Day, Mount Edgcumbe hosted a unique St.Georges Day Parade in front of Mount Edgcumbe House, in the Grounds of the Country Park overlooking the River Tamar. Many people involved in scouting, previous leaders and members attended to support this event, and attend they did. In glorious sunshine, and with the HMS Drake Sea Cadet & Royal Marine Cadet Band leading, the parade made its way through the park to the house. The Salvation Army Band, and the rame Penninsula Male Vioce Choir gave a tasteful feeling to the ceremony and proceedings to celebrate St.George.

In addition to various invited guests and Commissioners, those who attended included: 1st Millbrook, 2nd Saltash, 2nd Torpoint and Waterside ESU from Mount Edgecumbe District. 1st Tamar Valley from West Caradon District, 1st Launceston and Launceston ESU from Bude & Launceston District, 1st Castle Canyke (4th Bodmin) from Bodmin District, and from Truro District various contingents and reprensentatives from 1st Truro (Methodist), 12th Truro (Highertown), 18th Truro (St.Georges), Truro (St.Pauls) ESU, 1st Threemilestone and 1st Playing Place.

The day took many shapes, and included 2nd Saltash arriving by chartered boat !, and the planting of a commenerative tree to mark the event. As the images below show, the day was a fantastic success, and enjoyed by all who participated.
