Joint County ADC / Young People Forum Workshop  - 03/02/08

Successful joint day with ADCs / DSLs and PLs representing their Districts - Scouts & Leaders represented All Districts (this is a first and I hope the support continues into 2008)
PLs had opportunity to reflect on County Scout events and contribute to 2008 plans.
PLs undertook an active activity day undertaking various bases including making pizzas for their own lunch, wood branding, taking the lead and a Young People Forum.

Census of Membership - 28/02/08
Recent information shows an increase again of 112 across the County of Cornwall; Scout Section membership has increased by 29 to 811 (2007 782), a rise of over 3%. Well done to all.

Postpone Notification of Young People Forum Water Weekend - 30/03/08 *
Due to exceptional circumstances which could not be planned for, nor within our control, powerful storms this month have caused damage to the Bude canal which leaves wharf area of the canal empty and council planning to take advantage of suitation to carry out restoration work - this planned event unfortunately has to be postponed 'this time'.

Skills Day - 13/04/08
54 Scouts and 18 Adults representing 4 Districts attended an enjoyable, relaxed and very productive skills day at the County Site, Nine Ashes. The wet weather mainly passed to the south of us, but we still had some rain but the wind blew through the site and kept us smiling, as usual it didn't let us off,  as it showered on us whilst packing up and breaking flag for a successful day.

The bases involved communications, navigation, fire lighting & building, pioneering, safe use of axes/sawes/knives and basic first aid.

This gave the Scouts an opportunity to learn new skills, expand & refresh skills and hands on experience to benefit the forthcoming outdoor summer and camping season as well as how to teach others.

Winter Camp 2008 - 10-12/10/08
209 Scouts and 100 Adults representing all 9 Districts attended a brilliant sunny weekend, (one of the few for 2008 camping season! ) at the County Site, Nine Ashes.

The bases involved archery, climbing/abseiling, aerial runway, pioneering, obstacle course, mini olympics, team building, mountain bikes. In addition to this a special one-off Laser games followed by camp fire and entertainment.

The next County Scout event will be County Scout Skills Day 8th March 2009 ...brief details on the Events page and further details to follow soon.
